Every emotion
has a formula.

For the first time in history, human emotions can be measured, predicted, and deliberately changed — using three non-emotional variables and one equation. The Unified Theory of Emotions is part of a six-layer unified framework spanning the nature of matter, consciousness, evolution, emotion, and the purpose of every life. By Vijay Shankar Sharma.

A computable formula

Every emotion gets a score from −1,000 to +1,000. A precise number derived from three measurable variables — Effort, Gratitude/Blame, and Proximity. Verifiable on your own relationships, right now. Part of a unified framework spanning six layers of reality.

🔬

Zero circular reasoning

Every prior theory of emotion used emotions to explain emotions. UNITE is the first framework in history to derive emotions from non-emotional inputs — behaviour, orientation, and structural fact.

One lever to change everything

Of the three variables, only one resides purely in your mind. Changing it — without changing any external circumstance — changes the emotional output. The formula shows exactly what that lever is.

Timeless Wisdom — Now Mathematically Proved
The deeper the love, the deeper the hate.

High Effort and Proximity accumulate irreversibly. A betrayal flips only the Gratitude/Blame variable — producing an equally powerful negative score from the same foundation that once produced love.

Very High Effort × Blame flips sign × Very High Proximity
The opposite of love is not hate — it's indifference.

Love and hate both require high Effort and Proximity — they differ only in the Gratitude/Blame sign. Indifference requires zero Effort. Love and hate are more alike than either is like indifference.

Effort = 0 → Emotion Score = 0 always
Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Effort and historical Proximity are irreversible — they remain in the formula even when current contact drops to zero. Absence also activates fear of permanent loss, making the accumulated variables more vivid.

Irreversible Effort × Gratitude × Permanent past Proximity
Change your mind, change the world.

Gratitude/Blame is the only UNITE variable that resides purely inside Subject 1's mind. Changing Blame to Gratitude converts hate to love without altering any external circumstance. The formula changes. The emotional world changes with it.

G/B: the only purely internal variable — the only lever
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Betrayal in a high-Effort marriage flips Gratitude to maximum Blame. The result is not disproportionate — it is precisely proportionate. The formula produces a strongly negative score equal in magnitude to the love that preceded it.

Maximum Effort × Maximum Blame × Maximum Proximity

Vijay Shankar Sharma spent almost a decade developing the Unified Theory of Emotions — a framework that derives human emotional states from three non-emotional variables for the first time in history. The theory has been applied across five books covering relationships, leadership, negotiation, motivation, and mental health, and has produced zero exceptions in every relationship it has been tested on.
